The ground breaking ceremony has been scheduled for November 20, 2019 at 3 pm. This is a milestone for the Authority and our partners in the YMCA. It is a result of collaborative planning effort that has spanned several years and required hard work and coordination by many partners.
The Wheatlands Park and Recreation Authority met yesterday October 9th to discuss the schedule for ground breaking. We are eager to move some dirt! The City of Aurora is completing a final review of our plan which can take 8-12 weeks. After final approval we are all set to begin construction. Once construction starts we are anticipating a 14 month project.
We appreciate all the residents who attended our meeting and look forward to continuing to involve the community. If you do have any questions or comments and are not able to attend a meeting feel free to email us at email@example.com
We are continuing to enhance our website and added more design pictures, so please take a look on the design page.
***Please note these are not official meeting minutes and official meeting minutes will be posted once a quorum of the board has approved them at the following meeting***
The Wheatlands YMCA Recreation center has been financed and construction is beginning. This project has been years in the making beginning with the rezoning of the land from apartments to recreation. Next, there was the creation of the Wheatlands Park and Recreation authority and the intergovernmental agreement with the Wheatlands Metropolitan District.
This facility will be a wonderful addition for Wheatlands residents and the public to enjoy. The partnership with the YMCA allows us to create unique programming options and leverage their expertise to build a successful recreation center.
We will continuing to update the community on the project progress. Please check back for the latest news and construction timeline.
